MAKE YOUR TECHNICAL CHANGES PERMANENT
Technical change is difficult.
Getting great information about what you should change, and how to execute those changes, is hard to do.
It’s even more difficult to actually implement the change.
It feels awkward, it feels wrong, and it feels hard.
Unfortunately, that’s not even half the battle.
I’m sure you’ve had experiences where you can swim beautifully…until it’s time to swim fast, race, or train with any sort of volume.
As you learned, it’s INFINITELY more difficult to make a change that you can consistently and effectively implement in a racing situation, consistently.
And that’s what really counts.
If you want to swim faster than you ever have before, you’re going to need to be able to make technical changes that improve your performance, and you’re going to need to be able to perform these changes when it matters- when you compete.
The bottom line is that if you can’t make changes that last, you’re NOT going to continue to improve.
The reason this is so hard is not because it’s in inherently difficult process.
It’s not.
It’s so hard because triathletes and coaches are constantly making one critical mistake-
They separate their technical work and their training work.
Thankfully, the solution to this mistake is incredibly simple-
YOU HAVE TO TRAIN YOUR SKILLS!
The problem is that if you’re like most triathletes and coaches, you probably have no idea how to actually do that.
That’s where I come in.
Fortunately for you, for the last 15+ years, I’ve been on a mission to develop a system for training skills consistently and reliably.
My goal has been to help swimmers facilitate technical changes that improve performance AND consistently show up in races.
I’ve figured it out.
Creating changes that help you accomplish your goals starts with two steps-
1. We have to know where the opportunities for improvement are. We’ll use video analysis to determine exactly where you can improve the most.
2. Once we know where you stand to benefit the most, we’ll establish the specific exercises that will help you change your skills.
That’s what it takes to START the process of making effective change.
Even if you only get this far, it alone may make all difference. It’s a great start, and what I offer there is more than what you’ll get anywhere else.
However, it’s only a snapshot.
It’s a point in time where we can see where you’re at, we can define the solutions, and you’re off to implement those solutions on your own.
For some individuals, that’s all they’ll need.
They’ll be able to take the information and run with it, designing their own technical training program.
Sometimes for others, that’s not enough.
Most people are going struggle to do create a training program that will make their skills bulletproof.
Even most coaches will struggle to do that. They pay lip service to long-term skill development.
If you’re not sure how to transition from making a change to TRAINING a change, I have the plan for you.
4-WEEK TECHNICAL TRAINING PLAN
I’ve spent 15 years learning how to TRAIN technique.
It’s a process where you target the skills that you want to improve, and systemically expose those skills to training stress over time.
The comprehensive nature of the program includes-
-
All of the specific activities you’ll perform to speed up how fast you’re able to create change.
-
An awareness of the specific sensations you’ll target to ensure you’re moving in a new and improved manner.
-
The progressive plan to make those new skills bulletproof.
While there aren’t short cuts, there are much more effective ways of getting the job done. Ways most people aren’t aware of.
I’m not most people.
This plan is different.
It’s based on a different premise and a different way of viewing skills.
To be clear, this is not 4 weeks of catch-up drills.
It’s work, mentally and physically.
The purpose is to TRAIN your skills.
We’re going to ‘strengthen’ those skills and make them more robust to the pressures of speed and fatigue.
I’m not going to tell you that we can create perfect, bulletproof skills in 4 weeks.
It takes time.
What I am saying is that you can make significant progress.
More importantly, what I am saying is that by going through the process, you’ll understand the PROCESS of how to train your skills.
Even if we never interact again, you’ll be much better equipped to design practices that TRAIN your skills.
The purpose is to help you create changes that last so that you can accomplish your goals in the water.
When you purchase a 4-week technical development plan, here is what you’ll be receiving-
-
A full analysis of the major components of your swimming including body position and alignment, breathing action, arm action, leg action, and timing between the different components.
-
The PRINCIPLES behind why you’re moving in certain ways.
-
An understanding of how all of your actions are affecting the propulsion you’re creating, the resistance you’re creating, and the rhythm of your stroke.
-
Specific activities you can implement to address the opportunities we uncover.
-
A plan for TRAINING your skills with systematic exposure to the right technical training tasks.
-
Updated weekly training plans individualized to your needs that include the primary sets you can perform your training week.
-
Explanations about how to couple technical exercises with traditional training tools.
-
The PRINCIPLES behind the methods so that you can apply effectively apply these methods to future technical opportunities.
This all serves one purpose. Develop a plan for improvement so that you can accomplish your goals.
Everything we do is built around YOUR goals, YOUR needs, and YOUR schedule.
The technical changes we pursue will be built around YOUR specific opportunities for improvement.
The structure of your training plan will be built around YOUR training schedule, whether you swim twice per week or 6 times per week.
Further, I won’t just tell you what to do.
I’ll help you understand the principles behind what we’re doing, so you can apply those future principles to any problem you have in the future.
The bottom line is that change is needed if you want to improve.
If you want a proven system that will get there, this is it.
*Don’t think 4 weeks is enough? Commit to the 4 weeks and see how it goes. If you're happy with your progress and you want more, we can pick up where you left off for another 4 weeks. It doesn’t have to be continuous. You can take a 2 week break, or as long as you want.*
