Quick Fix- Crossing Over

The Problem

A lot of individuals cross their arms under the body.

This is not a great way to pull.

Here’s what it looks like.

Not good.

Unfortunately, just trying to pull straight doesn’t usually work, which is why the problem doesn’t always get solved.

I’ve got a better idea for you.

The Solution

While it might seem like this is a pulling problem, it’s often a recovery problem.

Because the arms are swinging side to side OVER the surface, they’re crossing over UNDER the surface.

No matter how much you focus the pull, it’s going to be difficult to change.

Start using underwater recovery.

Focus on moving the arms straight forward and straight back.

Use fins and a buoy if it helps you focus on the arms.

You’ll see that the more you can recover the arms straight forward, the more they’ll come straight back.

Then, start doing over-under freestyle, and see if you can get the same result.

It will be tougher because one arm is recovering over the surface.

Once you can get that down, you should be dramatically straighter with your pulls during regular freestyle.

This is a simple, fast, and easy way to make a big change.

Put yourself in a position to be successful, and progress happens fast!
